The School officially opened its gate to the students on the 23rd January 1977 at the Women’s Center, Gbaje, Gbongan. The School moved to the present permanent site along Ife/Ibadan. Expressway.
The School’s name was changed to Gbongan High School on the 14th August 1992. The Technical College was given temporary accommodation, pending when it would be evacuated to its permanent site., in addition to loaning two blocks of classrooms.
On the 2nd October 2013 the school was disarticulated by the state government into two Middle Schools. In June the school became one middle school and on the 29th April, 2019 the school was relocated to the compound of St Paul’s Ang Grammar School, Gbongan due to the dilapidated state of the school buildings.
The School returned to its permanent site on the 11th November, 2020 when the Government asked schools that have been relocated to other premises due to the policy of disarticulation of schools to move back to their original site. The movement of the school back to its original site was made possible by the intervention of the Old Students Association which renovated the buildings of the school and also supported the school in all aspects.
